Chanticleer Shiraz 96 Halliday Points

Our 2012 Scarce Earth Single Vineyard Chanticleer Shiraz got a great plug in James Halliday’s Wine Companion Newsletter (1st November 2012) getting 96 points. This is the highest score we have ever got for one of our wines from James, and so is terrifically exciting. The fact there is only about 5 dozen left of this wine is a bit deflating, so get in there if you want some. The wine is currently only available at cellar door or on online on our website.

Halliday describes the wine as ‘Intense, deep purple-crimson; only one hogshead (300 litres) of this quintessential McLaren Vale shiraz, with multiple layers of luscious plum and blackberry fruit, dark chocolate and supple tannins...’

Joch also gets a great slap on the back for his dedication to organic viticulture when Halliday says the Chanticleer Shiraz is ‘a powerful affirmation of the value of organic viticulture.’

McLaren Vale Scarce Earth wines explores the geological, climatic and soil diversity of the region. All wines come from a single block, a small plot of land with a unique flavour profile and personality.
