Some nice reviews of both our Battle of Bosworth 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon and Battle of Bosworth 2010 Shiraz by Campbell Mattinson in the Wine Front ( http://www.winefront.com.au ). Campbell said the Cabernet is ‘quite gorgeous’ (with 91 points)and described the Shiraz as an ‘excellent red wine‘ (and 92 points). Splendid.

Come and visit Battle of Bosworth at Adelaide’s Cellar Door Festival which runs from Friday 24th February to Sunday the 26th. We are on stand 164 in the McLaren Vale section, over near the Farmers Market. The Spring Seed ‘Sweet Pea’ Moscato is featuring in the ‘Wine and Cheese’ Masterclass on Saturday the 25th from 1-2pm, and the Battle of Bosworth ‘Clarence’ Sticky Semillon features in the Wine and Cheese class which runs from 1-2pm on Sunday 26th February.

New 2011 Battle of Bosworth Pinot Noir now available

We have something new at Battle of Bosworth cellar door…. the 2011 Battle of Bosworth Pinot Noir was released on Tuesday for tasting (and sales, if you like it). Made using grapes from our own 25 year old vines, Joch decided there was space for another wine in the line-up, and especially for this fragrant, strawberry-nosed, middleweight lovely.

About 30% of the grapes underwent ‘carbonic maceration’ which is a process where the grape ferments from the inside, in a carbon dioxide rich environment (hence the plastic bag which was tied up when it was filled). This process is often used in Beaujolais to make Gamay, and helps make a fruity wine with low tannins.

Organically grown and certified of course, from our Braden’s vineyard. I seem to remember I was driving past the vineyard when it was being picked last year, and got some photos which I dug out.

2011 ‘Puritan’ Shiraz is Red All Over in the Advertiser 21st Dec 2011

A final tip before New Year’s Eve if you are still organising your wine for the night. Tony Love in the Adelaide Advertiser on the 21st December 2011 gave the Puritan a nice write up, ‘Light as a feather, no added sulphur dioxide preservative, organically grown in McLaren Vale. Here’s a style with bright, juicy berry fruits and frankly-that’s as straight up as you need in the middle of summer with a thirst for a red that won’t bowl you over.’ Thanks Tony and happy new year all.
